Selections by D. L. Engle explores the sculpture of North American native fauna created by Southern California artist D.L. Engle. The
exhibition of animal sculptures includes “Puma Ways”, a beautiful bronze mountain lion in the Wildling’s permanent collection. The
exhibit includes three limited edition bronzes and a working maquette in plaster of a coyote. This plaster maquette demonstrates the
first stages of the development of a sculptural composition. Engle’s sculptures are characterized by an expressive emotional quality
and powerful presence. Engle is the inaugural recipient of the Marilyn Newmark Memorial Grant awarded by the National Sculpture
Society; an unrestricted prize of $5000 awarded to a sculptor who has demonstrated a commitment to sculpting animals and outstanding
ability in their body of work. Engle will present a talk and demonstration on her working process at the Wildling on Nov.1, 2014.
